Cognitive Assessment
If you or a loved one are noticing changes in memory or other cognitive abilities, such as difficulty with concentration, speech and language, decision-making, or visual-spatial perception, it is important to seek a thorough cognitive assessment. At The Brain Clinic, we provide specialized testing that can help you understand the potential causes of these changes.
Our team works closely with you and your medical providers to assess not only your cognitive function but also your overall quality of life. Our process goes beyond a simple diagnosis; we take the time to evaluate your unique situation, considering all factors that could be impacting your mental and physical well-being.
We can help identify the underlying causes of cognitive changes and guide you toward the most appropriate treatment options. Whether the cause is cognitive decline or another condition, we provide clarity and peace of mind, offering a roadmap for the next steps in care.

Psychotherapy
Aging can bring a variety of challenges-emotional, physical, and cognitive-that often lead to stress, anxiety, and a sense of uncertainty. At The Brain Clinic, we understand that mental well-being is just as important as physical health, especially as we navigate the changes that come with aging.
Whether you’re facing stress related to transitions like retirement, managing the physical and cognitive changes of aging, or planning for future living arrangements, our psychotherapy services offer a safe, understanding space to explore these concerns. We recognize that aging can also mean entering a new phase of life, one that may come with feelings of loss, identity shifts, and the need to find meaning in life. Dedicated therapists are here to walk alongside you, providing strategies and coping mechanisms to help you manage these changes with confidence.
Our psychotherapy services are designed to address the unique mental health challenges that come with aging, helping you foster resilience, improve emotional well-being, and enhance your overall quality of life. Consultation
In a time where the population of the United States is aging rapidly, with nearly 11,000 people per day reaching the age of 65, there is a need for enhanced knowledge about the aging process. In southwestern Virginia, the number of older individuals in need of care greatly outnumbers the amount of available service providers. For this reason, the primary mission of The Brain Clinic is to make quality mental health care accessible for seniors and their caretakers.
Are you interested in learning more about your risk of experiencing cognitive decline or understanding how lifestyle factors influence the aging process? Do you feel curious about whether a loved one’s memory problems or other forms of cognitive decline are a normal part of aging or if there is reason for concern over more serious issues? If so, The Brain Clinic can provide you with direction and peace of mind through our consultation services.
We also provide outreach and education for treatment providers across southwestern Virginia to fulfill our mission of enhancing access to needed treatment options for older individuals. We offer individualized training and support to agencies and providers, as well as presentations for community members and organizations across the region.
